The Canadian Salsa Dance Corporation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and evolving Latin dance culture through education, community programming, festivals, performances and artistic exchange.
CSDC creates opportunities for people to experience the music, history, movement and community at the heart of Latin dance.
Our work connects cultural preservation with participation. We support artists, create educational opportunities, produce large-scale festivals, offer community workshops and build spaces where people from different backgrounds can meet through dance.
Celebrate the traditions, music and histories that shape Latin dance.
Create welcoming pathways into dance through free and paid programming.
Give dancers, choreographers, musicians and educators platforms to share their work.
Use dance as a common language for connection, expression and belonging.

The idea that became CSDC began taking shape in 1998, when professional dancers Sonia Kyriacou and Moris Alvarenga were touring in Puerto Rico. Inspired by the depth, energy and cultural richness surrounding Salsa, they saw an opportunity to create more meaningful Latin dance experiences in Québec.
In 2002 they founded the Canadian Salsa Dance Corporation in Montreal. Their goal was larger than teaching dance: they wanted to create a platform where culture, performance, education and community could grow together.
That mission expanded over time. The Montreal Salsa Convention followed in 2005, and the Montreal Bachata Festival in 2011. Today, CSDC's event portfolio has grown to include Heels festivals in Montreal, Miami and Toronto while continuing to develop workshops, cultural programming and volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
